Senior Residential Support Worker – 4-Bed EBD Children’s Home
Location: Leicester
Salary: £13 to £14 per hour plus sleep-in payments of £50 per sleep
Shift Pattern: 1 day on (with sleep-in) followed by 2 days off
Shift Times: 07:00 – 23:00
About the Role:
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you’ll work closely with the management team to help lead the day-to-day operations of the home. You will play a key role in supporting and mentoring Residential Support Workers, safeguarding the welfare of the young people in your care, and helping them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support young people with their practical, emotional, educational, and social needs.
- Act as a positive role model and establish nurturing relationships with children.
- Lead shifts and supervise staff, ensuring the home runs smoothly and in line with care plans.
- Assist with rota planning, admissions/discharges, and liaising with external professionals.
- Provide keywork support and contribute to care planning, safeguarding, and reviews.
- Maintain accurate records and reports.
- Deputise in the absence of the Manager and participate in an on-call rota.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a residential childcare setting.
- Full UK manual driving licence.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries, and team collaboration.
- Resilience, emotional intelligence, and a child-centred approach.
- Ability to lead shifts and mentor less experienced staff.
