Job Opportunity: Deputy Manager – 4-Bed EBD Children’s Home
Location: Hoddesdon
Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including long days, sleep-ins, and 1 admin day per week)

 

Our client is opening a new 4-bed EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) children’s home in Hoddesdon and is seeking a passionate and capable Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operations of the home.

 

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth running of the home. You will provide leadership to the staff team, support the development and welfare of the young people, and ensure that all practices within the home are in line with relevant legislation and quality standards.

You will:

  • Assist the Registered Manager in daily operations and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Lead and support shifts, manage rotas, and ensure adequate staffing levels
  • Offer direct support and supervision to young people, addressing their emotional, practical, and behavioural needs
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop Residential Childcare Workers and Team Leaders
  • Support and deputise for the Registered Manager during absences
  • Participate in on-call duties on a rota basis
  • Manage admissions, discharges, and liaise with external professionals
  • Contribute to audits, placement planning, risk assessments, and safeguarding
  • Promote a nurturing, child-centred, and trauma-informed environment

 

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Significant experience working in residential childcare
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, the Children’s Homes Regulations, and Quality Standards
  • Ability to build positive relationships and act as a role model to young people
  • Confident communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills
