Children’s Residential Support Worker – New 4-Bed EBD Service
Location: Hoddesdon
Salary: £12.50 – £13.50 per hour
Sleep-in Rate: £50 per sleep
Shift Pattern: 1 day on (with sleep-in), followed by 2 days off
Shift Times: 07:30 – 23:00

 

Our client is opening a brand-new 4-bed residential service in Hoddesdon, supporting children and young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). They are now recruiting Children’s Residential Support Workers to join their dedicated, child-centred team.

 

Main Purpose of the Role:

To provide advice, support, and care to young people, always safeguarding their welfare. You will attend to their practical, physical, and emotional needs, acting as a positive role model to help them address their challenges and achieve their full potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support with daily living tasks including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining the home.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, offering consistent and unconditional support.
  • Attend to the physical, emotional, behavioural, cultural, and educational needs of each young person.
  • Act as a role model and guide for young people, supporting positive behaviour and self-control.
  • Follow and contribute to individual care plans, adapting them as needs change.
  • Take keyworker responsibility for specific young people.
  • Provide 1:1 emotional and practical support, especially during times of stress or crisis.
  • Support education, extracurricular activities, and social development.
  • Keep detailed records and contribute to planning meetings, reviews, and safeguarding discussions.
  • Promote young people’s involvement in decisions about their lives.
  • Advocate for young people in professional settings.
  • Encourage community involvement and social networking.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team and attend regular team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate financial and household records.
  • Follow all safeguarding procedures and health & safety regulations.
  • Engage in regular supervision and ongoing training.
  • Uphold the values and ethos of the home while helping young people thrive in a supportive environment.

 

Requirements:

  • Secondary education (GCSE level or equivalent).
  • Full, clean UK manual driving licence.
  • Suitable to work with children and young people (enhanced DBS required).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to form and maintain healthy boundaries and relationships.
  • Basic household and cooking skills.
  • Emotional resilience and ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and under your own initiative.
  • Willingness to undertake relevant training.
